Scripture – “Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.””
Acts 5:17-20 NIV
Observation – The apostles were arrested and put in jail but an angel opened the doors, freed them and said, “Go stand in the temple courts and tell the people all about this new life”.
Application – If you have been born again and understand that you were enslaved by sin until you understood the truth, that Jesus died for you to bring you to God and granted you forgiveness and gave you the gift of the Holy Spirit. If you have crossed over from death to life and understand the truth and the truth has set you free, then you too have the privilege of going out and telling people all about this new life.
Prayer – Lord, I pray that believers would see themselves as those that were shackled by sin and condemned to die because of their rebellion and selfish lives. I pray they understand that they have been brought from the prison to the palace as sons and daughters of the King and they would desire that inheritance for their friends and family. Amen.
