Scripture – “The rich are wise in their own eyes; one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Rich people are often very proud of themselves because they have figured out a way to make money in this world. They trust in themselves and are investing all of their energy and resources in their own temporary kingdom which will end when they die. A poor person who knows Jesus understands how futile this is, the rich may impress people, receive accolades and live in luxury but they will take nothing with them when they leave the earth. The poor man who loves God will live with God forever and all that the Father has will be theirs.

Application – If you are rich in this world God has given you a gift that you have developed. Nice work on the discipline and focus to develop the gift but don’t forget that he gave you the gift, “You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, Deuteronomy‬ ‭8‬:‭17‬-‭18‬a NIV‬‬. God is your Father and he wants to give his children lots of good gifts. In order to receive them you must receive Jesus as your savior.

Prayer – Lord, thank you for riches and wisdom. I pray for the people who are rich and wise in their own eyes that they would seek the one who gave them the ability to produce wealth.
