Scripture – “Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.”
Revelation 12:17 NIV
Observation – At Jesus’ birth Satan tried to kill him but was unsuccessful. Satan now has declared war on all followers of Jesus.
Application – Because we are at war Gods commands us in Ephesians 6:10-17, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Take some time today to determine what the flaming arrows of the evil one look like in your life so that when they come you are able to recognize them for what they truly are; a spiritual attack, then you can take up your shield of faith and extinguish the attack.
Prayer – Lord, it seems that the flaming arrows of the evil one come to believers in America through thoughts of fear which derail us from our purpose. We spend so much time and energy in our minds that we don’t have anything left to do your will. I pray that we would all trust you and obey you and watch you work in our lives and through our lives for your kingdom. Amen.
