Scripture – “My soul finds rest in God alone, my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Psalms 62:1-2 NIV
Observation – King David is making a distinction between God and everything else – wealth, power, health and other people. His soul finds rest in God alone.
Application – Wealth, power, health and people are very important and are huge blessings from God but they are temporary and can change in an instant. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change is mind. Does he speak and not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Learn to put your hope in God alone. This will require a lot of time and effort but you will find rest for your soul.
Prayer – Lord Jesus, I thank you that you are a rock that we can build our lives on. I thank you that you are a fortress and those that trust in you will never be shaken.
