Scripture – “But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.””
Luke 19:8 NIV
Observation – After spending time with Jesus Zacchaeus gave 1/2 of his possessions to the poor and promised that he would pay anyone he cheated 4 times the amount he cheated them out of. Let’s say he had a million dollars, he gave $500,000 away. And for the moment, let’s assume he cheated people out of $50,000, he has to pay them back $200,000, so he is left with 30% of his wealth.
Application – The Bible says, “If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come.” If you have been born again and have received the gift of the Holy Spirit you should be a different person. Everyone who knew you before you responded to Jesus calling you to give your life to him should wonder what happened to you.
Prayer – Lord, I pray for anyone who says they believe in you but hasn’t experienced a new life. I pray you pour out your Spirit on them so they want to do away with the old and walk in the light of your presence.
