Scripture – “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’””

Observation – When tempted by the devil to turn stones into bread Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV “He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
Application – We are not just physical beings that require food, water and sleep to survive. We are spiritual beings that need God’s word to guide us in our purpose, teach us how to love one another and to live holy lives so that we love ourselves. Without God’s word to lead us we will be our own god which leads to pain and loss.
Prayer – Lord, thank you for your word that nourishes our souls and strengthens our spirits. I pray that just like we wouldn’t go days without food we wouldn’t go days without your word.
