Scripture – “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – A person can make a comment, a decision or implement a plan and deceive themselves on why they are doing it but God judges the heart and he knows.

Application – How can we, as followers of Jesus, determine if our motives are pure or if we are acting out of fear, greed or bitterness? Spending time with Jesus and talking to him about everything is a good start. After discussing things with Jesus one should talk to wise counselors and be completely neutral on the advice God gives and your counselors give. During this process your true motives will be revealed and you can make a decision that pleases God and is good for you.

Prayer – Lord, help us not to deceive ourselves by thinking that we are always thinking and acting in the best interest of you and others. Amen.
