Scripture – “When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken.” Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭30‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – When David “felt” secure he said I will “never” be shaken because God was favoring him but when God seemed distant David was in distress.

Application – God’s great promise to the one who trusts in him is peace. It is easy to have peace when you are experiencing God’s blessings. It requires great faith to experience peace in the midst of the storm but isn’t that what true peace is, the ability to live your life in obedience to God with joy and the absence from constant distraction that accompanies the one who has fallen victim to the pursuit of pleasure, the deceitfulness of wealth and worries of this life. Remembering why you are on this planet and acting in accordance with God’s purpose for your life brings peace because you know that he will never leave you or forsake you.

Prayer – Dear God, I pray for me and everyone else that trusts you that circumstances wouldn’t affect our peace and joy, but that the source of our enjoyment and happiness in this life would be knowing that you love us and are caring for us.
