Scripture – “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.”
James 1:26 NIV
Observation – Self control is one of the fruits of the Spirit. If you cannot control what you say you are deceiving yourself in thinking you are living a righteous life and your religion is worthless.
Application – God calls us to control our tongue. It is such a bad witness when Christians gossip, use cuss words or make sexual jokes. If you are doing this God says your religion is worthless and you need to use your words to build others up, to say what is fitting and to honor God.
Prayer – Lord, I pray that every believer would use their words in a way that causes others to notice and through that witness you would receive glory. Amen.
