Scripture – “Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God is emphasizing the importance of paying attention to his words and applying what he is teaching us so that our trust may be in him.

Application – Have you thought about what or who you trust? We all trust that the driver on the other side of the road cares about their own life and is going to pay attention and stay in their lane, we trust in elevators, food manufacturers, that our companies will pay us for our work….the list goes on forever. We should be able to trust the people we work with, our friends, our spouses but that is not always the case. My dad used to say the more people he met the more he loved his dog (most of us would agree with that). God wants us to trust him because he loved us so much that while we were sinners he sent his son to die for us. “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭32‬ ‭NIV‬‬.

Prayer – Lord I pray for those who don’t trust you to give you a chance to show them that you are trustworthy. I pray they would open their hearts to consider that what you tell us in the Bible is true.
