Scripture – “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.”
Proverbs 18:10-11 NIV
Observation – Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24 NIV. People who trust God run to him when they are in need, people who love money run to their bank account when they are in need.
Application – When trouble rears its head in your life is your first thought how it will impact you financially. That is often times my first thought. This is a sign that money rather than God is your strong tower and your fortified city.
Prayer – Lord, I pray our first thought would be you and how you have promised that you will never forsake those who see you. Amen!
