Scripture – ““But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God commands us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us, he tells us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us.

Application – The majority of people, when trying to obey Jesus’ commands in these verses, pray for their enemies’ repentance and salvation. This is good but I believe Jesus is calling us to do more. It has been my experience, and it is one of the most powerful things that God can do in the human heart, that when you actually bless those who curse you, you begin to care and love them. Here is how it works, instead of praying that God would show them what an idiot they are you start to pray that God would bless their health, their business, their relationships with their wife and kids, you pray that God would give them joy and appreciation, favor and good standing. When you do this you can’t help but to begin to root for them. You are investing time with the creator of the universe and you are living with the expectation that God will answer your prayer. This brings you into alignment with Christ and gives you peace.

Prayer – Dear God, I pray that you would give all believers obedient willing hearts to bless those who curse them. Amen.
