1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
Observation – In this passage we are commanded to give thanks in all circumstances because this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.
Application – God has given human beings tremendous power and responsibility through the seemingly infinite number of choices we are presented with everyday. We can choose to look at another person as a living soul that God created or as a huge inconvenience and pain in our lives. We can take for granted that we are able to see, hear, walk, speak and think or we can thank God for these incredible gifts he has given us for free (if we had a billion dollars and were blind, we would give every cent we have to be able to see again, God has given us sight for free) We can complain about our lives or we can thank God for giving us a life and the strength, abilities and opportunities to change it. We get to choose.
Prayer – Lord, I pray for believers, that they would truly give thanks in all circumstances. You are good to us and I praise you for it.
