Scripture – “Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.””
Colossians 4:17 NIV
Observation – This is a short verse at the end of the book of Colossians. Paul is not only encouraging but commanding Archippus to finish the work God gave him to do.
Application – What work has God given you to do? You may have a very specific mandate from God and you know exactly what you are supposed to do. If that is the case get to work. Don’t worry about perfect execution, go do something that will bring you closer to completing the work and adjust your course as you go. If you don’t have a specific work God has called you to be faithful where you are. I’m sure you have a job, give yourself fully to serving your customers and being a blessing to your employer. Finish the work. The Bible says, the sluggard buries his hand in the dish but he won’t even bring it back up to his mouth. Don’t leave the work God has given you unfinished.
Prayer – Lord, the world is telling us to focus on ourselves, help us to quit thinking about us and focus on you and the work you have given us to do, amen.
