Scripture – “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.”
Philippians 1:27-28 NIV
Observation – God has called his followers to behave in way that brings glory to Christ. When we face extreme opposition we shouldn’t be afraid because God is in charge and we stand with him. Our calmness will also be a sign to people who oppose God, that they will be destroyed and that we will be saved.
Application – Life is difficult and disappointment and difficulties are commonplace. Followers of Jesus shouldn’t panic like men who have no hope. We personally know the creator of the universe and he will take care of us, even in death the righteous have a refuge.
Prayer – Lord, I pray for all of your followers today, that they would live with joy and confidence because you are in charge. If they are not living in manner worthy of you I pray they would repent and follow you with a whole heart.
