Scripture – “No harm overtakes the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble.”
Proverbs 12:21 NIV
Observation – God is telling us that no harm overtakes the righteous but the wicked have their fill of trouble. Harm obviously comes to everyone’s life, but God is stating that a righteous person, one who trusts in him, won’t crumble under life’s tragedies because they know that God is in control and loves them despite the circumstances.
Application – Trouble in our lives can come from accidents, nature, others or our poor decisions. When trouble comes, honestly evaluate the source and determine how and why it came. If your actions caused it repent and ask God to forgive you. If it is outside of your control pray that God would help you and comfort you.
Prayer – Lord, I pray for the righteous and the wicked, that the righteous would not be overcome by difficulties and that the wicked would clearly see they are sabotaging their own lives and they would take responsibility and repent. Amen.
