Scripture – ““ ‘Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt.”
Leviticus 19:17 NIV
Observation – When someone sins against you God commands you to rebuke them directly. If you don’t you are guilty for disobeying God and you share in their guilt.
Application – This verse is similar to Proverbs 10:18, “He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.” When someone sins against you go to them and talk about it, God says that if you are upset and claim you aren’t you are a liar and if you gossip about the person you are a fool. When someone sins against you, you can go to them directly and obey God or disobey God by harboring hatred in your heart or gossiping.
Prayer – Dear Jesus, give us courage to rebuke our neighbor frankly so that will can live in peace with you and our neighbor. Amen.
