Scripture – “Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalms 97:10 NIV
Observation – God is holy and hates wickedness, as followers of Jesus we are called to love what God loves and hate what God hates. God protects the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Application – What does it look like for a person to hate wickedness? A person that loves God and hates wickedness wouldn’t participate in sinful activities, they wouldn’t profit from evil businesses and they wouldn’t succumb to the fear of man. A person who hates wickedness trusts that God will take care of them, that God will guard the lives of his faithful ones and that he will deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Prayer – Lord, help me to love wicked people but hate what they do. I can’t do this on my own. Amen.
