Scripture – “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Paul is telling the people of Corinth that they need to build their lives on their relationship with Jesus who is our Lord, Savior and King. If a follower of Jesus does this they will live a successful life and will receive the reward God has for them. If a follower of Jesus gets distracted by the deceitfulness of wealth, the pursuit of pleasure and the worries of this life what they do in this life will be burned up.

Application – What are you doing with your life? Is all of your energy and effort being expended in order to accumulate wealth, power and praise from men in this life with no regard for eternity? Examine yourself and see if you are in the faith. What changes can you make to build your life on Christ? Ask Jesus to help you, he wants you to seek him and ask him what he has for you.

Prayer – Jesus, I pray you would open they eyes of every believer and give them a vision of what their life would look like if they were fully devoted to building their life on you, the solid rock. Amen.
