Scripture – “The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – The hope of the righteous person is joy because they are doing what is “right”. Their conscious is clear before God and man so they can walk securely without fear of being found out. They respect themselves and they respect others. The hopes of the wicked come to nothing. The evil man disguises his wickedness and calls it ambition but the Lord see through it and the wicked man, while he may enjoy life for a short time, will be found out and will be punished.

Application – Do what is right and trust that God will reward you. I believe this takes constant self-examination because some people may not steal or lie but they aren’t necessarily righteous bécause they aren’t putting others first, they are not working with all of their heart. They may not being doing anything bad but they aren’t doing the good they ought to do. To have the hope of a joyful life we need to avoid evil and do good.

Prayer – Lord, I pray that today I would do the good works you have prepared in advance for me to do and I would be on my guard against evil. Amen.
