Scripture – “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – God is telling lazy people to look at ants and learn a valuable lesson about how life works. The ant doesn’t need a boss or supervisor to tell him what to do, he knows that he’ll have needs in the upcoming season so he uses his time and energy wisely and prepares for the future.

Application – God is telling people to work hard and store up things for the future. While the most obvious application of these verses is to not waste time and to be intentional about saving these passages also apply to our health and our relationship with God and others. If we put no effort into taking care of ourselves and using our time to build strong ties to God and others we will suffer in the days to come.

Prayer – Dear Jesus, you give each person 168 hours per week and the awesome responsibility to use this time as they choose. Lord I pray I would invest my time wisely so that one day you say, “well done good and faithful servant”.
