Scripture – “When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

Observation – In Matthew 8:1-13, Jesus healed a man with leprosy that was right in front of him and he healed a Roman centurion’s servant that was far from him. In this passage he healed Peter’s mother-in-law, people that were demon possessed and he healed all the sick. This passage tells us that he did it to fulfill what was written about him in Isaiah 53:4, “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases”.
Application – Come to Jesus when you are sick and intercede in prayer for those who are physically suffering. Jesus came to save us, he loves us and came to make us physically whole too.
Prayer – Jesus, I pray for my friends and their families that are physically sick. I pray you heal them and make them whole like you did for the people mentioned in these passages. Amen.
