Scripture – ““Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – Jesus is telling us that if we brag about the good things we do and people tell us how wonderful we are, we have received our reward. In our heart we wanted praise from people and we got it. If we love people and love God and help others in Jesus name and never tell anyone God rewards us. You may ask, how does God reward us? That is a good question, what do you think? Does he provide us with health, good relationships, material wealth, appliances in our house that never break?

Application – God rewards us with more of him, a deeper better relationship with our creator and peace and confidence. We are allowed to see the world we live in from his perspective as we seek to please him and not ourselves.

Prayer – Dear God, help me to serve you and others and keep it to myself. Amen.
