Scripture – “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭32‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation – When a follower of Christ tries to hide their sin or rationalize it by blaming someone else for their sin they physically feel sick. God loves us too much to let us feel good after we have sinned against him and other people. We feel guilty and the only way to be healed is to confess our sins to the Lord. God is gracious and will forgive us and restore our relationship with him and our wellbeing.

Application – Ultimately we wanted to be so connected to the Holy Spirit that when a sinful thought enters our mind we recognize it, repent and ask God to strengthen us. When we do succumb, we need confess our sins quickly and ask God to forgive us. Pride and fear keep us from confession. Humility and trust bring us to the feet of Jesus so we can be brought back into a healthy whole relationship with him and others.

Prayer – Dear Jesus, help me to be quick to confess my sins, to you and others so that I experience joy and hope and not regret and condemnation. Amen.
