Scripture – “A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing” Proverbs 20:4 NIV
Observation – A lazy person does not plow when he is supposed to so when it is time to harvest he looks but nothing has grown. If you take this verse literally, the sluggard may have thrown down seed but if he skipped plowing, because it is very difficult, the seed would land on hard ground and the birds would eat it up. It isn’t enough to do part of what is required for success, we need to carefully execute every step to increase the probability for our desired outcome.
Application – The first question to ask is, “What is the goal?” When a person is able to clearly define their objective they can begin to layout the steps (the plowing) that need to be accomplished in order to have a successful harvest. Once this step has been completed the rest is discipline, just do it!
Prayer – Dear Jesus, you have given us ears to hear and eyes to see, I pray that believers everywhere would plow in season and experience a harvest of souls and plow in their personal lives so they can experience good health, a great relationship with you, with their family and friends and earn the respect of their colleagues and clients. In all of this I pray you are glorified. Amen.
