Scripture – “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”
Genesis 14:14 NIV
Observation – When Abram heard that Lot had been taken captive he gathered the 318 trained men born in his household and went to save Lot and his family. These 318 men were most likely his servants and his servant’s sons because, at this time, Abram didn’t have kids.
Application – Abram was the leader of this group of people and trained them for a battle that he knew would come one day. We need to prepare our children and those we lead so they don’t fail on the day of battle. Think about ways you can get them ready.
Prayer – Dear Jesus, your word says that the horse is made ready for the day of battle but victory rests with the Lord. Your expectation is that we will prepare, and you will be with us. Lord help me to invest in others so they know you and have wisdom to do what is right. Amen.
